The winter is just about on time to show up, any moment now, but we’re not waiting on it—and while the weather has been suspiciously warm, our skin has not seemed to think so. The cold wind blowing from all angles teaches every exposed part a lesson for not being covered. Well hey, a ski mask can only go so far. So how do we repair the largest organ in our body while keeping every square foot of it smooth to touch especially when it gets so easily chapped, or if you’re lucky, just a deep red? And while women for ages have cared about this, what is up with looking at some dude in the dead of winter and mistaking him for a White Walker from Game of Thrones (technically that makes sense, but you know what I mean?). Ouch.
Thankfully, we were able to schedule a school session with Daniel Tyson, a self proclaimed “skincare freak,” who is completely backed up and certified, since he leads PR for Dr. Jart and has his own 14 step routine that any woman would lust over and any man could just take a couple pointers from. And for those who didn’t know, Dr. Jart is a Korean skincare company created by dermatologists making use of true science to create functional, high quality skincare products, aka it’s legit.
Below, Daniel shares some basic training for all men who need a beauty bootcamp.
When did you become a skin junkie?
When I was 15, I started to wash my face twice daily. Since then my skincare routine has increased. When I moved to New York, I quickly found myself working with beauty brands, which just further increased my fascination with skincare and taking care of my skin. I currently have an intense routine with products from several brands.
What's your daily routine?
My routine is a little intense. I alway wash my face twice a day, morning and night, followed by a serum, eye cream, face oil, moisturizer, and SPF. For morning and night, I slightly switch up the routine by adding products that will help repair my skin while I sleep. A current favorite product is the Dr.Jart+ Every Sun Day Fluid SPF 30. In addition to protecting my skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays, it protects against environmental factors that can stress your skin out.
When is too much product, too much?
Never in my opinion, but it's important you choose products that are right for your skin, so listen to your skin.
If you don't happen to have at hydration mask before a holiday party, what's an easy at home remedy?
Try a facial massage. It helps circulation and in turn improves complexion, leaving your skin with a glow.
