Passing Science with Patrik Ervell

For his Spring Collection, Patrik Ervell opened our eyes to a new rendition of some of his signatures. Fabrics have been treated through the lens of decay: cottons are stained with copper oxide and iron metal shavings that have been left to soak in a saline solution for a week to create the mystically speckled pattern as seen perfectly-executed on suits and peter-pan collar shirts. The result is experimental yet totally refined, as expected from the 2010 CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear nominee. To pay homage to Patrik’s remarkably unique fabric treatments, we took to a rusted SoHo “back yard” to realize the first shipment of one of our favorite collections.
