FNO 2011: A Band of Outsiders x Momofuku Mexican Wedding Cookie

Just like he did for last year's Fashion's Night Out, Cookie monster Scott Sternberg has teamed up with Momofuku Milk Bar superstar Christina Tosi to whip up another OC FNO-exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime confection. Behold the Band of Outsiders x Momofuku Mexican wedding cookie!

We caught up with Christina, whose creations at David Chang's dessert outpost include the compost cookie and the super addictive crack pie. See what your sweet tooth can expect on FNO when you purchase a Band of Outsiders tote customizable by the illustrious Jessica Repetto. Plus, find out what unexpected food combination Christina thinks everyone should try at least once.

Sofia Cavallo: What's a Mexican wedding cookie?
Christina Tosi: It's a ball of nutty shortbread doused in confectioner's sugar that's usually seen around the holidays or for special occasions and celebrations.

SC: How did you and Scott decide on doing a version of this cookie for FNO?
CT: We figured it would be a great fit in the carnival theme of FNO this year, and they happen to be one of Scott's favorite cookies!

SC: We're no strangers to the distinctive Tosi touch. What twist on the Mexican wedding cookie can we expect from your FNO interpretation?
CT: We're stuffing our favorite nuts in the mix – peanut butter and toasted, ground pecans. There will be no shortage of sugar or salt in our Mexican wedding cookie, either.

SC: C is for cookie, and we're bound to believe that's good enough for you. What are your other favorite things that start with the letter C?
CT: Cake batter, calculus, canoeing, cardigans, cartwheels.

SC: What's your favorite snack in the whole world?
CT: Depends if I'm in a sweet or salty mood. I love cookie dough (nearly any kind) or a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos or Sour Cream & Onion chips and a can of coke. I snack like I'm a 16-year old.

SC: Is there a food combination that you think everyone should try at least once?
CT: Breakfast sausage and ranch dressing.

SC: Finally, what would be your last meal on death row?
CT: I think it would have to be a buttery grilled cheese and tomato soup affair.
