With Nigel Cabourn, What You Sea Is What You Get

Modeled after traditional seafarer silhouettes, Nigel Cabourn's Fall/Winter 2010 collection is a study in stylish survival. From WWII-era shank buttons to chunky wooden toggles to double-facing coats, this season is rich in old-fashioned details that have been expertly and gently modernized.

These thoughtfully designed pieces don't just look the part, though. With foul weather very much in mind, Cabourn's jackets and jumpers have been bulked up and seam-sealed to last. Employing a tried and true weather-proofing technique, as well, the designer uses linseed- and beeswax-soaked cotton that gives his outerwear time-tested, incredible robustness--and, of course, a pinch of antique charm.
