We started in London and now yes, we’re still covering Men’s Fashion Month. After a quick layover in Milan, next stop—Paris! Jet lagged or nah, We’ve been lucky enough to spend time with some of our favorite men’s designers—backstage and in front of the runway.. Below we give you all the fun stuff that goes down at fashion week minus the parts that involve airport security—Here it goes:
Walter Van Beirendonck is known for his playful use of color, it’s often splashed, blocked, or sometimes even comes in the form of a plastic trinket that dangles from an orifice. For his Fall/Winter ‘17 collection Van Beirendonck leaves that all behind for a moment and decides to go off-roading into the darkness of the woods.
In the forest we meet the inhabitants of the outer rim, Beirendonck’s post-Sendak creations; horns, hair, teeth and all. In the center we meet the collection. The oversized gloves, scarf masks, and headwear almost serve as protection but not in a defensive sense, but rather as a uniform for the the keepers of the beasts. When the figures step into the light, we get a new perspective: men who may just be Kings from a land long forgotten. Their royal robes deconstructed into tailored silhouettes, covered in graffiti, depicting a new coat of arms.
