The past year has been a whirlwind for designer Vejas Kruszewski. After making his mark with his eponymous line in NYC, the design wunderkind was awarded the prestigious LVMH Prize last summer, and packed up for Paris. Fall/Winter 2017 marked his second presentation in the City of Light, and it’s clear the change of scenery offered plenty of inspiration.
His interest was first piqued at a favorite Parisian market full of French antiquities. What has always been most intriguing about Kruszewski’s designs is the attention to detail—the way that he manipulates fabrics and binds them together, and this season continued that focus. Kruszewski wanted to take run of the mill, everyday fabrics and elevate them with intricate constructions, from pleats and pintucks to draped cowl necks.
Not yet 21, Kruszewski has already accomplished what many designers can only dream of, but it’s clear he’s just getting started.
