There is something about a metallic fabric that instantly feels forward thinking, and making it your medium of choice is a quick way to establish yourself as a voice of the future, as Micol Ragni has done with her eponymous collection of the last few seasons. For Fall 2017, the London-based, Italian-bred designer continued her exploration of all things shiny.
Models posed amidst sheets of cellophane, wearing Ragni’s loosely structured designs, from form-fitting draped dresses to oversized outwear, belted at the waist or left open. Each look was finished with her signature, slouchy over-the-knee boots—of which the one and only Erykah Badu is a fan—and a sprinkling of glitter or a sparkly accessory.
Ragni’s designs strike a perfect balance between considered and off the cuff, the present day and light years ahead. If the end of the world really is near, we have a feeling Micol Ragni’s magical creations will make it to the other side.
