The word basic has been getting a bad rap lately. “They’re so basic” (cue: bitchy voice) is just thrown out there into the world, carelessly, like Wonder Bread for pigeons. How would you describe someone who’s not, basic? And who made you to judge? And let’s say the subject wasn’t basic, what would the peanut gallery say then? Avant garde? We can’t believe that. The thing is, basic isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes a return to form is needed. It sure seems like “back to basics” never goes out of style … In life, inspiration … our wardrobe. So we decided to take a stand against all the haters, reaching for those comfort clothes that remind us of the good (and easy) times—spice things up a bit.
Just like satisfying that mid-day sweet tooth, a candy colored crewneck can do just the trick. Plus you know who liked basics? Steve Jobs. And we’re not going to argue with his passion for design. Next time you’re thinking about throwing around the word, don’t say it … Whet your appetite on these essentials instead.
