There’s something beautiful about seeing a female in full face kick ass, growing up an athlete I’m prefacing this that I have a bias. I’m not talking about the girl that puts on foundation and hits the elliptical. What I mean is the kind of women strong enough to literally kick the shit out of someone and decided to prep for the beat down with a beauty regime. This could be a lipstick application or the practical nature of a ponytail with a little extra time spent on the side part. Because at the end of the day what’s more powerful than a woman that can be both and likes to remind you that she is? Opening Ceremony’s Fall ‘17 collection: A Modern Western continues it’s American journey, this time heading to the Southwest—finding inspiration from Georgia O’Keefe. Looking at the region’s frontiers through her eyes, as a woman and an artist.
To say our fashion shows aren’t always an incredibly large production is an understatement—but that’s not simply because we love a good performance but rather because we’re the ultimate geeks. We are the friends that went overboard at a theme party and got pissed at you when you didn’t. Every detail has to connect and beauty shouldn’t be any different. Celebrating our first show in LA (the same year as our La Cienaga location’s 10-year birthday) we brought our whole backstage family with us, the one’s who equally don’t mess around, never let us down at a party, and most importantly—know how to get a women ready for battle.
