With its graphic compositions, oversized logos, and bright color blocking, Ralph Lauren’s Snow Beach Collection hit all the fashion notes of the early 90’s. It wasn’t, however, until 1994 when Wu-Tang’s Raekwon wore the pullover in their “Can It All Be So Simple” video that it gained notoriety in the hip hop world, quickly propelling the sweater from branded product to highly coveted, collector’s item status.
To celebrate Snow Beach’s 25th anniversary, the team at Ralph Lauren has both reissued and reimagined the collection’s pieces, in the signature designs and colors and in graphic black and white. Consisting of the original ten styles from the 1993 release, the Color capsule includes: the iconic pullover, vests, caps, and bucket hats. New pieces include color-blocked rugby shirts, a poncho, backpack, waist pack, and high-top sneakers. The Black and White capsule introduces eight new styles: a knit-tech rugby, water-resistant poncho, and a camp hat.
Our Opening Ceremony stores (Howard Street NYC, Los Angeles) are the only places to grab these pieces in the U.S. aside from Polo Ralph Lauren’s own retail outlets, beginning January 25th. The color collection is also available on OpeningCeremony.com. On February 1st, the black and white pieces will drop to OCNY and OCLA stores only.
In celebration of the launch, the Howard St. and Los Angeles stores will have the memorable Snow Beach book by Alex Dymond for purchase.
